Our client, a global music publishing company, is seeking a UK Head of Administration, for a 2 year contract to ensure the business provides 1st class administration services to songwriters and ensure timely income collection.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Administration department across areas that cover income tracking, royalties, sample clearance, and comprising copyright.
  • Ensuring the departments aim to collect and distribute all artists’ income accurately and in a timely fashion, is delivered.
  • Working closely with other departments that span the Business, Finance, Sync and A&R.
  • Liaising with international partners to include global divisions, clients, affiliates, licensees, and collection societies.
  • Providing expert leadership to the Administration department in order to motivate them in their administrative activities relating to publishing.
  • Aligning the department to meet critical metrics by prioritising workload.
  • Identifying processes improvements.
  • Reporting regularly to executive staff.
  • Fostering positive relationships with domestic clients.
  • Collaborating with technology colleagues to ensure systems are optimised.
  • Meeting regularly with external partners that include PRS, MCPS, UKA MPA and local CMOs.
  • Support Administration VP with ad-hoc projects.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in music/media/entertainment industries.
  • Experience at a music publisher at manager level ideal.
  • In-depth knowledge of music rights and collection societies, licensing, and multi-territorial digital licencing and claiming practices.
  • Proven track record of effective team leadership and providing feedback to teams.
  • Experience understanding music contracts, able to translate commercial terms into copyright and royalty systems.
  • Experience using copyright and royalty systems.
  • Experience analysing and interpreting large data sets and royalties.
  • Excellent process design, project management, objective setting and measurement capabilities.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to meet deadlines.
  • Genuine interest in professional development and leadership.
  • Effective communication skills dealing with people at all levels of business.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot.
  • Experience with BI visualisation tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Experience completing SOX controls.
  • Experience leading data migration projects and contributing to system enhancements, ideal.
